The gritLIT Challenge of Three – 3,000 words or 300 lines!

GritLit, Hamilton's literary festival, seeks three outstanding works of short fiction and three suites of poems. We want to be impressed, thrilled, and entertained. (Your immortality will come later.) Six Cash Prizes to be won! And we will publish the winning entries in a handsome chapbook.

The gritLIT Challenge of Three is open to all writers. Stories and suites of poems must be written in English and not be previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Stories may be up to 3,000 words and a suite of poems may be up to 300 lines.

Deadline: June 1, 2010
Poetry and fiction will each have their own prizes: First place $200 // Second place $100 // Third place $50
Entry Fee: $20 per submission.

Two copies of the submission are required. Pages must be numbered and the title or key words from the title must appear at the top of each page. Do not include your name or other identifying information on the submission itself.

Two separate cover pages are required. On one include your name, address, telephone number, and email address, as well as the title of the story (or the titles of the poems) in the submission. On the second cover page include only the title(s) in the submission and the word count (or poetry line count).

Do not staple the pages of your submission.

Photocopies will be accepted; however all submissions must be clearly printed, easily legible, and in general, give us the impression you are serious about your writing.

Submissions will not be returned.

Please make cheques or money orders payable to GritLIT.

Entries should be addressed to:
