Literary agent Stacey Donaghy wants Canadian authors for New York publishers

Hi, Brian.

I wanted to introduce myself, as I visit Quick Brown Fox often and think it’s a fantastic resource for writers. I also wanted to let you know that my genre list has changed, as I see that you have information on our agency (the Corvisiero Agency) posted on your site. The changes will soon be posted, but I thought I would send my new bio to you in advance.

On another note, I wanted to let you know that I am a Canadian agent working with a New York agency. One of my primary goals is to help our talented Canadian writers gain access to NY publishers, so I'm always on the lookout for great Canadian writers.

With my recent sale of K.A. Tucker's Ten tiny Breaths to Atria, Simon & Schuster, I am hoping that this will be first of many Canadian writers that I am able to move forward into positions of greater exposure!

I will continue to drop by your blog often and perhaps we will connect one day at a conference or speaker event.

Preferred genres: Young Adult and New Adult fiction and upper Middle Grade chapter books that have series potential. Romance is also on her list.

"I am looking for stories with well-developed characters whose conflicts are at the forefront of the story. Edgy is a good word to describe what I hope to find. 

"In YA and New Adult, I am looking for stories that depict strong characters that surprise and engage me. Depending on the plot, a little heat is also a nice touch. New twists on old themes are also something I love. I really want to miss the characters once I conclude the read.

"Where Romance is concerned I hope to find stories that make me swoon, cry and cheer!  Where the male and female characters are the type you admire and that make your heart thump! With characters that struggle to find each other.  Struggling that pulls at the heart strings, and builds to that climatic point where there is a Happy Ever After or a Happy for Now conclusion.   Heat levels can vary, although I am not seeking erotica at this time.

"In middle grade I hope to find chapter books for upper middle grade readers. I seek stories that are unique and intelligent and have some of my favorite elements of paranormal, mystery, thriller or suspense!"
