Love letters ~ Where your fellow writers are getting published or finding an agent

Kathleen Rushall of Marsal Lyon
Hello, Brian!
I wanted to let you know that I just signed with the amazing Kathleen Rushall of the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency for my YA contemporary novel, Firsts. Your workshops that I attended in London definitely inspired me and motivated me to make time to write each day, so I wanted to say thanks!
I'm looking forward to this new chapter and hope to see you at another one of your workshops in the near future!
Best wishes,
Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

Hi, Brian.
Hope this finds you well. I am very happy to let you know that Abandoned by the Muse will be coming out in September. Check it out at Vocamus Press here.
Have a wonderful spring now that the good weather seems to have finally arrived!

Hi, Brian.
My latest story “The Jacket” has been posted on CommuterLit. The idea popped into my head one evening and I wrote it without stopping. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks & best wishes,
Hannah McKinnon
P.S. I’m enjoying the Wednesday afternoon course in Burlington

Brian:
Hello again!  Well, another submission accepted!  This short story,The Perfect Home,” will be published on Near to the Knuckle.  They didn’t give an exact time as they have a backlog, however my story will be on their site “in due course”.  He even made a lovely comment regarding being impressed with my standard!  I’m so thrilled that my stories are finding a home!
Sincerely,
Michelle Boomer

Literary agent Carly Watters will
be my guest speaker at
"How to Get Published" workshops
in Stoufville (here) and Oakville (here).
Hi, Brian.
Thank you for the insightful "How to Get Published" workshop you conducted in London. I truly appreciate the real-world advice you and literary agent Olga Filina gave to the class. When Spielberg picks up the movie rights to my novel, the two of you will acknowledged on the movie poster. Seriously, I learned a lot.
Also the Globe & Mail has published my second story. As you taught us, editors want a fresh take on a story. This dinner party story involves a weird fruit, a donkey piƱata and an Italian opera-loving singer named Rocky.
Thought your blog readers might enjoy The Smelly Fruit Incident
Cheers,
Mark Fodchuk
Note: I have “How to Get Published” workshops (with literary agents as guest speakers) coming up on May 24 in Stouffville (see here), June 22 in Ottawa (see here) and Sept 27 in Oakville (see here). For information on submitting a Facts & Arguements essay to the Globe & Mail, see here.
