New digital book publishers seek extraordinary writing, U.S. quarterly pays for fiction and nonfiction, online journals want your labours of love

Extraordinarium Digital Press (Canada) seeks non-fiction and fiction book-length works and anthologies that focus on experiences, studies, speculative fiction, and imaginative works about extraordinary things — when the unexpected happens in transformative ways. Published in ebook format. Royalty-sharing. Topics range from travel to the supernatural, cultural exchanges to speculations.

The Extraordinarium Journal features in depth articles, interviews, and first-hand experiences on many facets of the extraordinary.

Tailwinds Press is a New York City-based independent press specializing in high-quality fiction and non-fiction by new and emerging writers and is currently accepting submissions for its inaugural 2015-2016 season. Submission guidelines here.

Toronto-based art and lit magazine The Casserole, publishes content to their website on a whenever-we-feel-like-it basis, and rounds up the best of the best quarterly to feature in the online publication of their magazine.

Accepts fiction, non-fiction, poetry, interviews, videos, rants, reviews, tweets, lists, art or anything else you think should be seen by The Casserole staff.

The Impressment Gang (Halifax) invites submissions for their second issue. What they like: poetry that is “smart, original, and heartfelt.” Accepts fiction, non-fiction and other prose that “knocks [their] socks off.” The Impressment Gang prints four times a year: May, August, November, February. Contributors currently receive two print copies + e-copy.

Zoetic Press (US) is exploring new forms of digital books. Currently, it’s issuing new editions of Alice in Wonderland and Pride and Prejudice, with more works to come. Each work will become an e-book anthology, incorporating alternative narratives, critical commentary, additional stories, etc. Because it will appear in-line with the text, submitted stories do not need to stand alone to be considered.

In addition, Zoetic Press is reading fiction, non-fiction and poetry that takes advantage of the Lithomobilus e-reader platform. New, experimental, hybrid works that feature non-linear navigation and user-directed reading experiences are particularly encouraged.

NonBinary Review, the quarterly literary publication of Zoetic Press, wants art and literature that tiptoes the tightrope between now and then, makes readers reach for a dictionary or a tissue or both. Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, hybrid, art. Upcoming issues: Issue #2 (September 2014): Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Issue #3 (December 2014): L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz. 

Authors and artists should state in their cover letters for which issue their submission is intended. Submissions not related to an upcoming issue's theme will be deleted unread. Pays 1 cent per word for prose/hybrid work, $10 flat fee per poem, and $25 flat fee for art.
