On-line magazine pays for flash fiction; also pieces dealing with terror, the future and the end wanted

Flash Fiction On-line publishes stories from 500 to 1,000 words in length and pays $60 per story. These stories are short, but they are still stories. That means the best ones have strong, interesting characters, plots, and (to some extent, at least) settings.

“We’re not that concerned about genre. Many of us have a fondness for science fiction and fantasy, but we also like literary fiction; and in any case, great flash stories aren’t always easily classified. If you wrote it, and you love it, then submit it.”

Note: “We’re always looking for great stories related to important events and holidays. Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Election Day, Veteran’s Day. The list goes on. If you have something apropos, drop it into our ‘Seasonal’ submission category. Please give us at least a couple of months leeway, ie. submit for Valentine’s Day by December 14th. Thanks!”

The Flexible Persona, an international literary journal invites, submissions of nonfiction and fiction pieces of terror, anxiety, and horror for a themed issue: The Horror of Everyday Life. They “invite you to face that which truly shakes you to the core, armed with the alchemy of the written word.” Publishes fiction with emotional weight and evolved characters and relationships and non-fiction that explores “how people find a sane, happy life in a basically insane world.” Selected works will be published online in audio format as well as in a special e-reader issue in February 2015. The Rain, Party, & Disaster Society is seeking poetry, non-fiction essays, and flash fiction that tackles their October theme: The End. Send your work that thematically, literally, or figuratively includes concepts of endings or the end of something. Magazine staff work closely with contributors to hone their voice before accepting submissions.

Futurological Press is the speculative fiction imprint of Westry Wingate Group, publishing both print and e-book titles. “We are currently accepting unsolicited submissions of full-length manuscripts and short stories in the many genres & sub-genres of speculative fiction (eg. science fiction, fantasy, horror, steampunk, etc.), including some YA.
