Crazy to think I attended your first workshop in October 2013, your first weekly class in January 2014, and since then I’ve had seven short stories published, rewritten my novel, finished my first children’s chapter book and bagged an agent. Once again, thanks for your latest jam-packed edition of Quick Brown Fox. You reminded me of the news I have for you.

First of all, The Loyalist’s Wife, my entry in the Association for Art and social Change contest, The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards is a finalist! This is the book which I first work-shopped in your editing course six years ago in Oakville, published in July of 2013. The awards are announced in November but I already feel I’ve won just by being named one of six finalists out of a field of over two hundred.

My second book in the Loyalist trilogy, The Loyalist’s Luck, launched on October 19 here in Woodstock and is available in many bookstores and online as well.

Just got notice of my story, “The Good Elders” will be published on Commuter Lit ~ yay! I polished it using tools from you class. Happy dance!

I will return to writing classes when I'm done teaching semester 2 at Brock.
