I would be very grateful if you would post a notice about my newly published book, Liam, An Irish historical novel, on your blog. 

The book traces the growing up years of Liam, a young boy, who lived in Ireland during the time of the Great Famine (1845-1849). He witnesses starvation, cruelty and deprivation at the hands of the English. Can he surmount his problems? The New World beckons on him. Beset by conflicting emotions, he is forced to decide between remaining in a famine-ridden country or emigrating to a strange country and taking his chances.

Dear Brian,

Several years ago I attended your seminar about writing memoirs and other personal stories. You had Ross Pennie as a guest speaker and he talked about his experience and shared his memoir, The Unforgiving Tides. Your workshop proved significantly helpful. I took copious notes and went back to them again and again.

Because of health and other issues, my book was delayed, but these very things which interrupted my writing became some of my material, and I’ve now self-published my In Other Worlds with Westbow Press and it’s receiving very great reviews as a page turner.

Thank you for being a help to me and many other aspiring writers. Though I had written dozens of articles for journals and a couple of short stories, writing a book was a new kind of project, and your seminar and the example of Ross Pennie were a huge stimulus.

Here’s my latest story on CommuterLit, ‘The Icing on the Cake” (here).

I wrote it during Brian’s dialogue workshop in Georgetown. The assignment was to write a piece of dialogue in which someone attempted to convince someone else to do something (or not to do something).
