Julie Barer, Faye Bender, Brettne Bloom and Elisabeth Weed are launching The Book Group, a new full-service literary agency. Barer, Bender, and Weed have each spent the past 10 years running their own agencies; Bloom joins from Kneerim, Williams & Bloom, where she spent the past 15 years (and 3 as a partner.)

Clients of The Book Group include Kristin Cashore, Liane Moriarty, Paula McLain, Elisabeth Egan, Lisa Fain, Joshua Ferris, Sarah Jio, Lily King, Celeste Ng, Allison Winn Scotch, Helen Simonson, J. Courtney Sullivan and Luisa Weiss, among many others.

Rebecca Stead
In addition, Newbery Award-winning children's author Rebecca Stead, an agency client, also joins The Book Group as a literary agent. Like all new agents, Rebecca especially needs authors. Rebecca will represent all categories of fiction, including children's, middle grade, young adult, and adult.

As it’s a new agency, we can expect to see The Book Group aggressively seeking new authors. See bios of all five agents at the agency here.

Query Rebecca, or any of the agents in the group, at: submissions@thebookgroup.com
Put the first and last name of the agent you’re querying in the subject line. Include ten sample pages pasted into the email. No attachments.
