Trident Media Group is one of the largest and most diversified agencies in the world. Trident represents over 1,000 authors in a range of genres of fiction and nonfiction, many of whom have appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers Lists and have won major awards and prizes. For more than six consecutive years, Publishers Market Place has ranked Trident number one for sales in North America. But Trident doesn’t just work with bestselling authors; it also takes on emerging authors.

Amanda O’Connor is the newest member of the group, and like all new agents, she’s looking for authors. Amanda’s love of books has always been at the center of her career. She has worked as a writer with a B.F.A. in poetry, a bookseller, and as an editor at several publishers including Penguin Random House, Cambridge University Press, and Love Among the Ruins. Amanda now brings that same passion to Trident as a literary agent. Here, she is able to guide her authors through every step, from the editorial board to the bookstore.

one of Trident's clients
“With my background, enthusiasm, and Trident’s resources, I feel better equipped than ever to support authors as they navigate the breadth of today’s publishing opportunities.” says Amanda. “The reach of major publishing houses has never been so global and eBooks have put more stories into the hands of readers than ever before. Simultaneously, the renaissance of boutique presses has created a wealth of possibilities for writers.”

Amanda's editorial experience at a range of publishers, from trade to academic and independent presses, has given Amanda the tools to develop authors’ careers in these exciting, diverse directions.

Amanda is continuously building her client list in general-interest and upmarket nonfiction, spirituality and wellness, and literary fiction. She looks for the “wisdom factor” across genres and disciplines, especially authors who have an expertise they are eager to share with the world.

Her favored subjects include (but are not limited to) history, religion, popular science, sociology, culinary arts, and creativity. In spirituality, Amanda’s approach is truly ecumenical, seeking leaders of all faith communities from Catholic nuns to Sikh entrepreneurs, from practical self-help to inspirational memoir. Literary fiction is a pursuit of passion. She gravitates towards works that address timeless concerns of the soul through the lens of modern life. Above all else, Amanda loves a well-crafted sentence.
