Hi, Brian.
I’m most pleased to announce that my first picture book will be arriving in September 2017. Captain Monty (working title) was a finalist in the 2014 CANSCAIP / TWUC Writing for Children Competition and will be published by Kids Can Press.
Also, my debut middle grade novel, Speechless, (started in one of your classes and published by Scholastic in September 2015) has been nominated for two more awards: the IODE Violet Downey award, and the SYCRA Diamond Willow award, plus the Ontario Library Association has commended it as a “Best Bet” in junior fiction.
This is on top of the CBC naming it one of the 75 Best Books of 2015 and the Ontario Library Association nominating it for a Silver Birch Award in their Forest of Reading program.
I’ve been busily speaking at schools and libraries across Ontario and learning many new skills; such as writing said presentations, speaking without body parts shaking, and fielding questions from students such as, “Why did you spend so much time describing the characters' hair?”

P.S. To book me for a school/library visit, contact me through my website here.
Note: Jennifer will be one of our guest speakers at the Writing for Children and for Young Adults workshop on Saturday, April 30, in Guelph. See here.

Yay, Hannah
Hi, Brian.
It's official! My debut novel Time After Time (from HarperCollins) is available for pre-order on pretty much all the Amazon sites. Check it out on Amazon.ca here.
All the best,
Hannah
And the Kindle copy is just $2. I’ve pre-ordered mine already, and on June 2, it will arrive in my email. ~ Brian

Time After Time is a fresh and funny work of women’s commercial fiction, which explores the romantic paths that could have been . . .
For fans of Laura Barnett and Dani Atkins, Hannah McKinnon has written a moving story that will resonate with any woman who has ever wondered, in a moment of frustration, “what if?”
Hayley Cooper, a powerful but now struggling lawyer, fantasizes about what her life would be like if only if she’d made different choices. It’s understandable; the past two years have been hell. She barely sees her kids, her boss is trying to sabotage her, and her marriage is falling apart.
Burnt out, Hayley goes to sleep wishing for a different life. When she wakes up married to her first boyfriend, one she has not seen in over twenty years, she realizes there might be some truth in the saying “be careful what you wish for”. Over a single weekend, like Ebenezer Scrooge, Hayley gets to see her life on other side of the white picket fence – not just with her first ex, but with each of her past loves. But is the grass always greener, and will she ever want to go home?
