Jennifer Mook-Song to publish a picture book and wins more accolades for Speechless and Hannah McKinnon's novel, Time After Time, now available for pre-order

Hi, Brian.

I’m most pleased to announce that my first picture book will be arriving in September 2017. Captain Monty (working title) was a finalist in the 2014 CANSCAIP / TWUC Writing for Children Competition and will be published by Kids Can Press.

Also, my debut middle grade novel, Speechless, (started in one of your classes and published by Scholastic in September 2015) has been nominated for two more awards: the IODE Violet Downey award, and the SYCRA Diamond Willow award, plus the Ontario Library Association has commended it as a “Best Bet” in junior fiction.

This is on top of the CBC naming it one of the 75 Best Books of 2015 and the Ontario Library Association nominating it for a Silver Birch Award in their Forest of Reading program.

I’ve been busily speaking at schools and libraries across Ontario and learning many new skills; such as writing said presentations, speaking without body parts shaking, and fielding questions from students such as, “Why did you spend so much time describing the characters' hair?”
