Brilliant Flash Fiction literary quarterly runs free writing contests on a regular basis. Right now, they want your entries for their “Special Delivery” writing contest.
Prompt: “It Came in the Mail”
No entry fee. Word limit: 500 words, excluding title
Prizes: 
50 euro first prize (or equivalent amount in your currency)
25 euro second prize
15 euro third prize
Judge Paul Beckman says: “I’m looking for writing I haven’t read before. Original, emotional, creative – a story I’ll want to share and want others to share. Good luck!”

Entries are open for the Bartleby Snopes literary magazine's 8th annual Dialogue Only Contest. First prize: $300 minimum (higher if 50+ entries received). Compose a short story entirely of dialogue — no narration — that delivers a powerful and engaging story. Length: 2,000 words max. Entry fee: $10 for unlimited entries.
Deadline: September 15, 2016. Note: Bartleby Snopes also accepts regular submissions. Guidelines here.

The Puritan magazine seeks submissions year round and pays high bounties for quality work:
$100 per interview,
$100 per essay,
$100 per review,
$50 per work of fiction
$15 per poem (or page, capped at $60 for poems running four pages or more).
All submissions must be previously unpublished (this includes self-publishing, publishing on blogs, and in chapbook format).

My company, Winter Wind Press is a micro-press focused on creating exceptional books for exceptional kids (Young adult and teen books, currently a self-publishing model only).
