Ayesha Pande Literary is a New York based boutique literary agency with four agents, all accepting new authors, and a small and eclectic roster of clients. The agency has broad-ranging interests and welcomes submissions of all kinds, except poetry, religion or inspirational books, business books, screenplays, illustrated children’s books and middle grade fiction. However they are always on the lookout for young adult fiction. They are especially passionate about discovering and nurturing talented new voices.

Serene Hakim is the newest member of the team, and like all new agents, she needs authors. Serene. worked at Laura Gross Literary Agency in Boston before joining Ayesha Pande Literary. She has also interned at David Godine Publisher and Chase Literary Agency. Serene holds an M.A. in French to English translation from NYU and a B.A. in French and Women’s Studies from the University of Kansas

Serene is actively seeking young adult (all genres but in particular: science fiction and fantasy with a unique hook, realistic YA with diverse characters), upmarket women’s fiction, and anything that gives voice to those whose voices are underrepresented and/or marginalized. Stories dealing with the Middle East and the variety of immigrant experiences out there will definitely catch her eye. Intriguing female characters are also a huge plus.

For nonfiction, Serene is seeking humorous and fascinating memoirs and is particularly interested in LGBTQ and feminist issues
