Congratulations to Liz, Michelle, Gail & Donna – all of whom are publishing stories – and to Lynda whose novel is a finalist for a Lambda award, plus ride to Algonquin needed

Hi, Brian.
I just wanted to let you know a story I started in your “How to Write Great Characters” workshop is now up on Twisted Sister lit mag, which might seem kind of funny seeing as I’m involved there, but I originally sent it to Yellow Mama (where they’ve published many of my other pieces), and after some discussion with the editor (and editorial tweaking) we both felt it was better suited for Twisted Sister.
I guess the point to take from this for your students is some works are really a good fit for only a couple publications, and each pub has its own niche.
In my story I took your “bad cop” prompt, and tried to make an unlikeable character likeable – reader discretion is advised (sex, no violence).
Thank again for all your advice,
Liz McAdams ;-)

Hi, Brian.
I’d like to tell you that I’ve had four short stories published through CommuterLit. You’d suggested I send a story to them several years ago – and I did. I’m always thrilled when they accept something I’ve written.
Thanks,
Gail Copeland

Hi, Brian.
I have attended a few workshops and the Writing Personal Stories course and wrote a short story called “The Trip to Texas” which is being published by CommuterLit.
I did complete my nonfiction novel of more than 100 years of Canadian history in Manitoba but have not found a Canadian publisher yet.  Next step is to try agents and publishers from the US that you provide on your emails.
Best wishes,
Donna Rozak

Wanted: Ride share to the Algonquin in June Writing Retreat
Hi, I want to go to the retreat, but don’t drive. If anyone’s going from somewhere in the London area, I’d love to go with you. I’ll split the gas money, of course, and provide good company on the way up and back.
You haven’t heard about the retreat? Check out the details here.
If you can help, please contact me at: pat.mysterywriter@gmail.com
I’d really appreciate it.
Yours,
Patricia (Pat) Brown
