Writer to Writer

The critique circle of the Waterloo-Wellington branch of the Canadian Authors Association is currently open to new members.  

There is no sugar coating it. An effective critique group requires commitment. It takes time each month to carefully read the material submitted for critique and to come to the meeting and give and receive your critiques. It also means that you have to be producing enough critique-ready material each month to justify your own investment of time and energy. At the same time, the critique circle experience can be invaluable in getting your writing closer to being publishable. Many people find that they benefit as much if not more from what they learn critiquing other people’s work than from the critiques they receive on their own work.  

The group meets in Waterloo from 1 to 4 on the last Sunday of the month. You don’t have to be a CAA member to join, but we do ask non-members to pay $10 per meeting. If you are interested in joining the group, on the understanding that we are looking from a solid commitment to attend every meeting you reasonably can, to have material ready for critique, and to devote the time necessary to do an intelligent critique of the other works submitted each month, please contact Mark Baker at mbaker@analecta.com
