Kelvin Kong starts new Canadian literary agency

Kelvin Kong has left The Rights Factory and started his own literary agency, K2 Literary. Unfortunately, K2 Literary is closed to queries and will consider submissions only through referrals.

There are several excellent Canadian literary agencies and agents who are actively looking for authors, though.  The CookeMcDermid Agency, for example, has several agents looking for clients, including Martha Webb who is often a guest speaker at my workshops, including at the upcoming How to Get Published workshop February 24, 2018 (see here).

Similarly, the Helen Heller Agency has three agents looking for new authors, including Barbara Berson, who will be one of the guest speakers at the Writing for Children and for Young Adults mini-conference April 21, 2018 (see here). ~Brian

But in regards to K2 Literary: “I started this agency in 2018, after over ten years of working in Canadian publishing,” says Kevin.”My first job involved handling print production for co-edition books at Madison Press, a book packager. There, I worked with a number of international publishers and co-agents, and the relationships I formed still stand me in good stead, to this day. 

“I’ve also had short editorial stints at a major Canadian publisher and a communications company. More recently, I worked in rights at Kids Can Press and was agent/rights manager at The Rights Factory. These various roles have helped me develop a fantastic network in Canada, and internationally.

“As the primary agent at K2 Literary, I represent fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. Well, whatever interests me that would also interest the reading market. Additionally, I represent the rights for several Canadian publishers, in overseas markets.”
