The Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency {SKLA} is an independent New York literary agency representing a distinguished list of fiction and non-fiction authors, with an emphasis on narrative non-fiction and literary journalism.

Areas of interest include history, adventure, politics and current affairs, biography, science & natural history, technology & culture, business and memoir. Our fiction list includes authors of literary, commercial, and young adult fiction.

SKLA has five agents, and assistant agent, and all but one of them is open to queries.

Laura Usselman was recently promoted to literary agent, and like all new agents, she needs authors. Before joining SKLA, Laura earned her MFA in Fiction at Virginia Tech, where she taught composition and creative writing, and spent three years at Cambridge University Press. A native of Atlanta, she studied English and film at the University of Georgia. She lives with her family in Brooklyn.

Laura represents adult fiction and nonfiction and thoughtful narrative nonfiction for younger readers. Her fiction interests include character-centered fiction of all stripes, from the formally strange to the family saga. For nonfiction for adults, she is interested in restlessly curious idea books, and voice-driven memoir.

Aemilia Phillips joined Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency in the fall of 2016 after completing the Columbia University Publishing Course. She graduated from Harvard University with high honors. Aemilia currently lives in Manhattan and is putting her English degree to good use in the world of publishing. Like all agents just starting out in the business, she needs authors. 

With interests in journalism, narrative nonfiction, and literary fiction, she looks for diverse, smart writing with an impactful story to tell.

Aemilia works closely with David Patterson and Mackenzie Brady Watson, but is beginning to build her own client list.
