Congratulations to Jennifer Smith for winning the Pottersfield Prize for Nonfiction – and the publishing contract that goes with it!

Hey!  If you’ve had a story (or a book!) published, if you’ve won or placed in a writing contest, if you’ve gotten yourself an agent, or if you have any other news, send me an email so I can share your success. And be sure to let know if you're looking for a writers' group or beta readers; a notice in Quick Brown Fox, will help you find them. Email me at brianhenry@sympatico.ca

Hi, Brian.
I received some very exciting news this week. My 89,000 word manuscript, Green Ghost, Blue Ocean won the Pottersfield Prize for Canadian Non-Fiction 2019.
I received the following email from Lesley Choyce on Monday:
“I’m pleased to tell you that you are this year’s winner of the Pottersfield Prize for Creative Nonfiction.  Green Ghost, Blue Ocean is a wonderful manuscript and it has been chosen for the top award.
We plan to publish it in the spring of 2020 and will be assigning an editor to you in the days ahead. As noted in our original announcement, you will receive a publishing contract and a $1500 advance upon publication."
When I got the news I cried with happiness! I am so very excited to have my manuscript accepted for publishing. Thank you for all your courses and guidance and thank you for helping me find beta readers through Quick Brown Fox. Thanks are also due to my fellow writers in the QBF Burlington Intensive Creative Writing Class for all their helpful feedback.
I can hardly wait to experience this next step of the writing process – publishing!
Best regards,
Jennifer M. Smith
