I just wanted to share exciting news that I've had my first writing win, 1st place in the One Book, One Aurora writing contest through the Aurora Public Library.  It is an excerpt from Chapter 3 of the novel I've been working on (and workshopped many years ago in one of your classes).  It's been published in the on-line edition of the magazine Borealis.  It's called “Laced Running.”

Hi, Brian.

I attended your last class in London, Ontario, and enjoyed it very much. I must admit, I felt bad that I never shared with you m publishing successes. You were the first writing classes I ever attended (in Woodstock) back in 2009. I've taken in a few more since then, all of them in London. So, now I'm going to share with you what I've done since 2009.

I sold my first book, According to Plan, in 2010. Following this, my publisher put out a call for quick novellas (targeting those who wanted a fast read over lunch and coffee breaks). I had four novellas published through this program, one of them going as high as #63 Amazon and #2 over all categories with All Romance Cafe (when they were still in business). This novella was in the top ten of most digital retailers for over six months. My publisher bundled my novellas into an anthology and I also collaborated in two other boxed sets. 

In 2014, I ceased writing under my pen name and began to self-publish under my own name. My publisher gave me back the rights to my books and I re-published According to Plan with a new ISBN and cover in 2015. I also changed it to a sweet romance.

At the time of this e-mail I have since published five other novels. The most recent came out in February 2020 (this is book three in a four-book series, with the final book of this series coming out fall 2020).

Through you, and the Toronto Romance Writers, I have connected with Sherry Thomas and Kelly Armstrong. This is a tight knit community and I love that most authors support each other and we are our biggest cheerleaders.
