Congratulations to Florence, Deb, Corinne, and Tanya!

Florence is in the 3rd row, 3rd from the left

Brian,

Thanks for all your help. It's a long road – I think that's the real reason it's called the Journey Prize!

all best,

Florence MacDonald

Congratulations to Florence! Her short story “House on Fire,” published in The Dalhousie Review, is on the long list for the Journey Prize! Note: Besides the possibility of coming first and winning a $10,000 prize, McClelland & Stewart publishes a collection of the longlisted stories in their annual The Journey Prize Stories anthology.

Hi, Brian!

I thought you'd be interested in knowing that I placed 2nd in the Toronto Start Short Story Contest. It's been a very exciting ride as you can imagine.

My only disappointment is that the reporter did not acknowledge you.  I told him that I credited both you and Humber for giving me the skills. I'm not sure why he chose to omit that detail.

Anyway, thank you for all the support you've given me. I always learning something from your courses.

Talk to you tonight in class.

Hi Brian!

I wanted to let you know that a short story I wrote recently, called “Boy” will be published online in STORGY Magazine (UK based) on October 21st. It's very exciting! I'll send a reminder when it's going to go live.

Also, STORGY welcomes submissions year-round for short fiction, essays, book reviews, articles on cultural issues, and art and photography if you want to mention it to your other students. More details here: https://storgy.com/submit/

 I hope you're well. :-)

All the best,

Corinne Clark

Dear Brian,

I’m delighted to share the news that my essay, “Terrorist Mythologies,” that we workshopped in class last spring won second place in the Edna Staebler Personal Essay contest. I’m thrilled! It will be published in The New Quarterly next month.

So so pleased.
Fondly,
Tanya

I’ll keep you posted!
See you in class,
Tanya Allatt
