The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency is a New York City-based full-service literary agency founded in 2001. The agency represents children’s literature for all ages – picture books and middle-grade and young adult novels – but also represents high-quality adult fiction and nonfiction in a wide range of genres. JDLA is proud to represent illustrators, as well as screenwriters for both television and film, including Emmy and Peabody Award-winning writers and illustrators.

Bre Stephens is the newest member of the team, and like all new agents, she needs authors.

Bre has thirteen years of experience as a writer, publisher, educator, literary judge, and editor.  She has worked as an Editor-in-Chief of a literary magazine and has taught university composition, technical writing, and creative writing.  Bre holds an MA in English and Creative Writing, an M.Ed. in ESL, and a BA in Art History.  In her spare time, she loves attending Japanese festivals and learning more about world cultures.

You can find Bre online: on Twitter @brelstephens, Facebook @BreStephens2019, and on her website:  brendaleestephenscom

Bre is looking for fiction for adults, middle grade, and young adults, and also for nonfiction.

In Adult Fiction, Bre is seeking: Gothic, Horror, Speculative, Fantasy, Psychological Realism, and Detective/Mystery.

In Middle Grade & Young Adult: Gothic, Horror, Fantasy, Psychological Realism, Detective/Mystery, Slice of Life, Adventure, Coming of Age, and Graphic Novels.

In Nonfiction: Art, History, Personal Journey, Healing, Memoirs, Biographies, and Self-Help

She’s especially interested in anything with a darker tone/theme. VAMPIRES, monsters, inner-struggle, mental health awareness, angels/demons, pirates are all welcome.

Query Bre through her query manager: querymanager.com/brestephens

For fiction, include the first chapter of your manuscript; for nonfiction, include a proposal and the first chapter.
