Hi, Brian.

My piece was accepted into the Toronto Heliconian Club's first-ever anthology, only I'm sure because it was so thoroughly workshopped in one of your Intensives. "Geode," my piece, is named for one of my E.S.L. students, and you suggested, at the point when he chose his English name, that I take it at first, wrongly, for "Geordie."  Thanks! 

The anthology is called Musings after the muses on Mount Helicon in Greek mythology. It was juried, and contains art as well as writing, so it's a beautiful book.

Dear Brian,

I attended one of your events at the Oakville Central Library some years back and wanted to let you know I’ve finally {self-published} my book, The Horse that Saved Us. 

With Covid restrictions and lockdowns, the publishing of my book was delayed as the printing press was closed. And I could not see my family in person, so I planned a Zoom call this past Christmas Day and unveiled my long-awaited project. 

The book recounts my grandmother’s true story of her life in Latvia and Germany, 1919 – 1950.

I’ve attached a photo of my Gramma, who is now 102 years of age.

I am thrilled it is now out, and working with a P.R. person to market in many ways and in various countries. I had my first interview with 'The Table Read', an online magazine based in the U.K. {see here} And I have a second interview with another magazine in the U.S. is coming up soon!

Hi, Brian.

A story of mine, His House,” was recently posted on CommuterLit. It was a story I'd worked on quite a long time ago with thoughts of it being a novella. I went the opposite direction and scaled it down as a short story.

I'm writing to share an opportunity at Brampton Library for authors in Peel Region to have their published works featured as part of our Local Authors Showcase. I'm hoping that you'd be willing to share this information with your network. I've shared more details about the showcase below:

“For a few more weeks, Brampton Library is accepting submissions for the 2022–23 Local Authors Showcase! Brampton Library proudly supports local writers every year by featuring their published and self-published titles in our print and digital collections. All of the authors in each annual showcase are featured on our website. Further submission details can be found here.

It’s our privilege to foster local talent by supporting emerging authors and sharing their stories. For the past five years, this annual event has featured many wonderful local writers, and we are looking forward to launching the 2022–23 showcase later this year.

Participation is open to anyone living in Peel Region with a Brampton Library card. Authors can submit up to three titles published over the last five years. Print books and ebooks in any language are welcome. Don’t miss this opportunity to submit your works by the deadline of March 31, 2022."

On a personal note, I attended one of your wonderful workshops many years ago (I was about twelve at the time) in Kitchener about building suspense. I still have the notes and have referred to them over the years. I appreciate your work!
