Azantian is a young agency. Founded in 2014 by Jennifer Azantian and headquartered in California, the agency has eight agents altogether, six of them Associate Agents, relatively new to the business. Azantian specializes in science fiction, fantasy, and psychological horror for middle grade, young adult, and adult readers, including graphic novels (though it does also represent other fiction).

Currently, Jennifer Azantian is open to submissions of graphic novels (though not to any other submissions), and two new associate agents – Keir Alekseii and Shannon Lechon – will open to submissions June 1st. So mark your calendars; like all new agents, they'll need authors.

Plus there are four Associate Agents, accepting submissions now and actively building their client lists:

Masha Gunic started her career in publishing as an intern at the Azantian Literary Agency and has since held internships at Red Fox Literary and Writers House before working as an Editorial Assistant at Abrams Books on the children's side for two years. Her love for books across genres, as well as her desire to find and foster great talent, drove her to make the transition from editorial back to the Azantian Literary Agency on the West Coast. 

Right now, Masha is only looking to acquire middle grade and young adult novels.

Amanda Rutter started work in publishing with Strange Chemistry, the YA imprint of Angry Robot. After moving on from this role, she began a freelance editor/proof-reader career with such companies as Wise Ink Publishing, Cornerstones Literary Agency, Aconyte Books, Black Library, and Titan Books. She was also a literary agent with Red Sofa Literary Agency, representing YA and adult science fiction and fantasy. (For the bizarre circumstances of Rutter’s resignation from Red Sofa, see here.)

Amanda is keen to find timeless stories in SFF, with lush writing and memorable characters.

Alexandra Weiss joined the world of publishing in 2016, as an associate agent with the Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency. In 2021, she joined Azantian Literary Agency where she represents fiction and nonfiction picture books, middle grade, young adult, graphic novels, and select adult nonfiction. 

Alex holds a BFA in creative writing and publishing from Columbia College Chicago and has written for Bustle and Buzzfeed, among others. She regularly volunteers with literary organizations and has a soft spot for working with young readers. When she isn't reading or writing, she's probably baking up a storm or snuggling with her cat.

Renae Moore started her career in publishing with various editorial internships before a term at a mid-size East Coast literary agency before building her own client list there. She has a B.A. in Anthropology, M.Ed., and J.D., and thinks it might be partly due to her childhood TV watching habits and resulting fascination with the Fraggles' Uncle Traveling Matt, Night Court, and Miss Frizzle. The driving forces behind Renae's motivation as an agent are the power and empowerment in storytelling. 

She gravitates to stories that have a balance of heart, mystery, magic, and adventure. Specifically, she’s looking for: Commercial, Family Saga, Fantasy, Graphic Novel, LGBTQ, Literary, Mystery, Romance, Science Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Young Adult, and her favourite subgenres are Fantasy Romance and Speculative Fiction.
