Kudos to Corinne, Donna, and Erin who all have book contracts and to Denisha, who's had 3 of her pieces accepted!

If you’ve had a story (or a book!) published, if you’ve won or placed in a writing contest, if you’ve gotten yourself an agent, or if you have any other news, send me an email so I can share your success. As writers, we’re all in this together, and your good news gives us all a boost.

Also, be sure to let know if you're looking for a writers' group or beta readers; a notice in Quick Brown Fox, will help you find them.

Hi, Brian.

I’m so excited to share the news that my debut novel, The Butcher’s Daughter, co-written with David Demchuk, has secured a publishing deal! North American rights to Soho Press and UK rights to Titan Books! I’m very much looking forward to the adventures ahead!

All the best,

Corinne Clark

Hi, Brian.

I’ve signed a contract with MiddleRoad Publishers in Toronto! So excited! We’re now in the editing process. The novel, a domestic mystery, currently called Accidental Courage, will be out in 2024.

Hi, Brian!

I have a new book coming out: Mighty Scared – about the amazing ways animals defend themselves when they’re afraid. It’s being released by Orca in February 2024.

I have two additional books coming out in 2024. One is called In it to Win it: Sports and Climate Change. It will be published by Orca in May. Another, out in fall 2024, is called All Consuming: Shop Smarter for the Planet about how we can use our purchasing power to help the planet.

Sitting Shiva was a finalist for a TD Book Award. I didn’t win at the ceremony on Monday night but it was a pretty cool experience. I’m attaching a link to the two newest books.

Hi, Brian.

Back in February, I decided to take a big step and learn how to submit work for publication. It is a rocky, confusing process with LOTS of rejections.

I would like to share that I have recently had a poem, “Quantum Shaman” published in Braided Way (see here), and a short story, “Dog Eared World,” published in Open Minds (here)

I hope this doesn’t come off as bragging, it’s just that after receiving so many rejections, it’s nice to share the acceptances.

See you in the Intensive class on Wednesday,

Denisha Naidoo

P.S. Just heard: “The old woman and the cottage” was accepted for publication! I wrote and work-shopped this in my last class with you. It has been accepted by Passager which is a magazine I had hoped to publish with. Thank-you for your help with this story!!

Note: For information about submitting to Braided Way or Open Minds, see here

If you're interested in joining an Intensive Creative Writing class this winter, check out the details here or go big and sign up for the Extreme Creative Writing class – details here.
