Les Stobbe is a prominent literary agent specializing in the Christian book market. He’s been in the book business for 55 years doing everything from selling books to ghost-writing books (for Dale Evans, wife of Roy Rogers, among others). For the past 16 years, he’s devoted himself to agenting Christian books.

Les accepts submissions from unpublished authors but he notes that most of his publishable proposals are coming via recommendations from clients, well-known authors and editors, often at Christian writers’ conferences. He highly recommends attending such conferences, where authors can make personal contact with agents, published authors and editors (Write!Canada, for example, held every June in Guelph).

Les is looking for writers with fresh voices in both adult fiction and nonfiction who, above all, know how to tell a story with truth embedded in it – and in nonfiction who already have a significant platform.

Submissions: For both fiction and nonfiction, Les wants a full proposal including a 35-word selling hook, a synopsis, marketing segment, and the first three chapters attached to an email in a single document. See his submissions page for the exact details: http://stobbeliterary.com/submission-guidelines.html

Note: Brian Henry has "How to Get Published" workshops coming up in Sarnia on August 22 (see here) and in Mississauga on December 4 (details to come).
