I wanted to let you know that two of my short stories were accepted and published online for the Right Eyed Deer magazine (Issue 8). Both stories were written for your “Exploring Creative Writing” course. “The Circus Needs Me” is on page 40 and “My Side of the Wall” is on page 48. They couldn't decide which piece to use, as they really liked both (which was a lovely compliment) so they asked me if they could both pieces.

Hi, Brian.
I wanted to let you know, I had sent the story I showed you, "Butterflies", to the Writers’ Union of Canada’s Short Prose Competition for Developing Writers, and today, I had an envelope in the mail from TWUC.

The letter started out "Congratulations!" I turns out, "Butterflies" was one of just over 100 stories that made it to the second round. Very exciting – I've never made it to the second round in a TWUC competition before! They also included a constructive comment. When you critiqued the piece in the “ExploringCreative Writing” course you said much the same, but elaborated on the idea. So now I think I can make the story better and submit it elsewhere in the hopes of eventual publication.

Thank you for what you do – I really enjoyed the Exploring Creative Writing course and look forward to upcoming Intensive courses!

Hi Brian,
I wanted to tell you two exciting pieces of news about books I recently had published.
I just received notice that my first novel, The Unraveling of Abby Settel, which was published by Turquoise Morning Press in August 2011, received an Honorable Mention for the Reader Views Literary Awards, in the Adult General Fiction/Novel category!

The cozy mystery novel that I co-authored, Buried in a Book (by Lucy Arlington, published by Berkley Prime Crime) came out in February, and in its first week of sales made it to the New York Times Extended List for Mass Market Paperbacks at number 32! My co-author and I are thrilled.

Although I still love living in Bermuda, I miss your stimulating workshops. And I do keep up with the Quick Brown Fox. It's a great blog.

The only requirements are that you are familiar with those genres, and that you take writing seriously. The writers in this group would be people not yet published, but whose aim would be just that. 

The objective is to meet once a week, although it might be every two weeks or more when we first start if there’s less than 5 people in the group.
