Love letters

Jill Corcoran of the Herman Agency
Hello, Brian.
I've taken a few of your courses. In fact, the first seminar I attended on writing for kids was yours. I'll fast forward through my story: three children later, after having left my teaching position for a freelance writing and editing career, I have an agent and a picture book placed with Random House.
My agent, Jill Corcoran, blogged recently about our first meeting. (See here.) Her post reminded me of your kids' lit writing seminar, and I wanted to write and say thanks for giving me my first peek into the children's publishing world. I was hooked, and I couldn't be happier to be on this path.
Best regards,
Aimee Reid

Hi, Brian.
Captain Scott Moody, citizen soldier
I trust you are having a great summer so far. I just wanted to let you know about my latest article, "Citizen Soldiers," in Mississauga Life Magazine (July/August issue). See here.
This is the web version but copies of the magazine are also available for pick-up at some businesses, doctor's offices and libraries in Mississauga.
Take care and hope to catch a workshop soon.

Hello, Brian.
Just to let you know, my historical thriller The Betrayal Path has been published by Chronicler Publishing, a print-on-demand company specializing in Canadian historical fiction. My book is now available at Amazon.com and I hope soon at Amazon.ca.
Thanks, Brian, for your encouragement during the process. One of your workshops in Guelph really got me thinking about correct editing and actual re-writing until I'd developed a product a publisher became interested in. Should others be interested at all in the book, check out my website here.
Thanks again for your time and your interest!
Brian Van Norman

My next workshop in Guelph will be “Secrets of Writing a Page-turner” on December 1. See here.

"No Way Out" by Melanie Jackson
from Playfort Publishing
Hi, Brian.
Thoroughly enjoyed the How to Get Published workshop today – most informative – I would say the best session I have attended in a while!
I have spoken to a publisher (at Playfort Publishing) who was recommended to me through a relative. He has actually made a few changes (character names) and adjusted a bit of my wording here and there and has told me they are “considering” my children’s book – but like you say, a long process. Plan B will be to get an agent.
Thanks again,
Catherine Shane
