Hello, Brian.

Kimberly Whalen of Trident Media Group had requested to see my full manuscript of Black Dragon’s Bride (which you’ll recall from our Wed evening course). Well after reading it she told me that she "really enjoyed it," but... 

There always seems to be a but. Anyway, she wondered if I would consider tweaking my heroine Isobel because she thought she came across as a "bit off-putting."

We exchanged a few emails, with the result that my summer project is to work on that. She seems to think everything else is fine, so I'll see what happens once I've sent it to her again. I will keep you posted.

Dear Brian,

I loved how you talked about "what if" ideas in your “How to Write a Bestseller” workshop. When the organization where I volunteered faced closure because of embezzlement, I thought, "what if..." The result was “Escape,” my second published short story on CommuterLit.com.

Thank you for all your contest and regular submission announcements. My entries into Marco Polo’s 100x100 and 100x500 contests will be published later this year. Canadian Stories magazine has accepted one of my short stories and I’ve just entered their photo story contest. I had no idea how to get anything published until I started following your site!

I’m looking forward to your “How to Make Yourself Write” workshop in Peterborough this August (details here). If you ever decide to offer your “Writing and Revising” workshop in Peterborough, please let me know. Otherwise, I may have to consider a trip to Brampton on Sept 15 to participate.  (Details of Brampton workshop here.)

How are you and your family? You may remember that my daughter, Alexandra, and I attended the Owen Sound writing workshop. Alexandra has continued to write and is published this summer in the Southwestern Daytripper. She won a contest (at age 13) to write about her home town and she wrote a very tourist friendly article mentioning many of the attractions in Kincardine. (page 55, if you have time to check it out)

I think I told you she was writing a novel and she finished this spring so she is carrying on the writing tradition.
