Congratulations to Nancy, Mark and Dave from the Wednesday afternoon class, and to Anitha, who's published her first picture book

Three regulars from the Wednesday afternoon writing class have some great news:

Hi, Brian.

I'm pleased to announce that I've signed with Alice Speilburg at Speilburg Literary Agency! We're currently working on revisions of my historical novel, Ancestral Echoes (tentative title), and plan to go on submission with it to publishers in the spring.

Thanks so much, Brian, for all your comments and suggestions for this novel. Your courses and workshops are invaluable!

Note: The Speilburg Agency is currently looking at queries. Yes, right through the Christmas holidays. {Could be Alice Speilburg doesn’t celebrate Christmas.} More about the Speilburg agency hereAnd visit Nancy's website here.

Dear Brian,

This is to let you know that my novel, The Peaceweaver, which you have seen pieces of in so many drafts across so many classes, not to mention all the iterations of query letters and synopsis you have seen in workshops and retreats, has been accepted for publication by Chrism Press, with the publication date currently scheduled for December of 2021 – just in time for Christmas.

Thanks for all your help and encouragement along the way, and I look forward to placing a copy in your hands one of these days soon.

Mark

Hi, Brian.

I’ve been published in Storgy Magazine, based in the UK. Some people in the Wednesday afternoon class will have already seen this.

Dave

Read Dave’s story, “Touch and Go,” here. For information on submitting to Storgy, see here.

Plus, Dave had bigger news earlier this year, his young adult novel, Attitude, was published by Middleroad Publishers. Read more about Attitude here. Order a copy on Amazon, here.

Plus, more big news:

Hi, Brian.

I have some exciting news I’m hoping you’ll share on Quick Brown Fox – my picture book has been published.

Thanks so much, Brian. This is a story I worked on in one of your classes.

My best,

Anitha

Anitha Rao-Robinson is thrilled to announce the release of her debut picture book, A Family for Faru, published by Pajama Press and beautifully illustrated by Karen Patkau. It's the story of a young boy, an orphaned rhino and their journey across the African savannah to find the rhino a new family.

Anitha will be donating a portion of her royalties to several rhino charities that support and protect rhinos. A Different Drummer Books, an independent bookstore in Burlington, has generously offered to donate $5 for each book they sell to Care for Wild Africa, the rhino orphanage Anitha's daughter volunteered with.

A Family for Faru is one of the picture books out this fall that CBC declared they "can't wait to read."

A Family for Faru is available from Pajama Press here.

For information about submitting to Pajama Press and 20 other Canadian and American publishers, see here.
