Congratulations to Emily, Gaurav, Diane, and Tanya

If you’ve had a story (or a book!) published, if you’ve won or placed in a writing contest, if you’ve gotten yourself an agent, or if you have any other news, send me an email so I can share your success. And be sure to let know if you're looking for a writers' group or beta readers; a notice in Quick Brown Fox, will help you find them.

Dear Brian,

After Saturday’s Kid Lit workshop, I sent my pigeon story as well as the full collection of war animal stories to Kathleen at Kids Can Press.

Today, she wrote back with thanks to say she is happy to consider my book for her list. She says she remembers it from 2018, when it was a finalist in the CANSCAIP competition in the picture book category. She remembered not only the story but also my writing style. It’s encouraging to me that the story was so memorable! Perhaps it will encourage her to consider it all the more.

I’ll let you know what comes of it!

Thanks again for this great opportunity.

Fondly,

Tanya

Hi, Brian.

I just thought I’d share the exciting news that I came in first in a flash fiction competition put on by Fan Expo Canada and the Toronto International Festival of Authors!

My story, “Forever May You Reign,” as well as the second and third winning stories, can be found here.

Dear Brian,

I am happy to share with you a personal essay of mine which has been published in More of Our Canada magazine. The magazine is published by Reader's Digest Canada.

This is my first Canadian publication. I owe this to you. I have benefited from your workshops and constant encouragement and feedback on my other works. In the sidebar of the piece, London Calling, I do express my gratitude to you.

Also, two of my really short fictions, one a 81-word story and the other, a 42-word story, will appear in two anthologies.

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Gaurav

Hi, Brian.

I have amazing news! I think I told you guys last week, the magazine Women in Higher Education was looking at an essay I sent them. They've just accepted it, and I'm being paid too!

If anyone’s interested, the editor, Kelly, is looking specifically for articles about the issues women in academia are facing.
