Poetry Online {aka poetry.onl} is a weekly poetry journal committed to publishing work made accessible to all. It offers an online venue alongside audio, captioned video, and screenreader accessible images so that every reader is included.

Poetry Online accepts both poetry and visual poetry, traditional and experimental. For a hint of what they enjoy, check out their Read Page.  Pays $25 on publication.

Prose Online {aka prose.onl} is a weekly prose literary journal committed to publishing work made accessible to all. It offers an online venue alongside audio, captioned video, and screenreader accessible images so that every reader is included.

Prose Online seeks short fiction and nonfiction, either flash prose {under 1,00o words} or short prose 1,00 –6,000 words}. Pays $15 on publication.

NYCmidnight holds contests for writers around the world in a number of different categories: Microfiction under 100 words, Microfiction under 250 words, Flash Fiction, Screenwriting, Short Screenplay, and Short Story. 

Writers are randomly assigned to a group, given a few parameters and a deadline to write their piece. Winners advance to the next round. There is a forum for participants to receive feedback on their stories. There is an entry fee, and winners receive cash prizes.

The next contest is for Short Stories and starts January 14, 2022. In the first round, participants are assigned a genre, subject, and characters and have eight days to write a short story under 2,500 words. In the three subsequent rounds, story lengths become a little shorter and deadlines tighter. Entry fee is $59 U.S. Prizes range from $150 U.S. for tenth place to $6,500 for first place.

Cloud Lake Literary is an independent digital literary magazine and online content space headquartered in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They’re seeking submissions from across Canada and are always looking for new writers and artists. We currently publish fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and children’s literature (ages up to and including YA).

In addition to written work, they’re seeking submissions of visual art from artists across Canada. Cloud Lake publishes literary writing, but they also believe that typically commercial stories and themes can be well-written and developed and so they welcome all submissions for consideration.

The Temz Review is a literary journal based in London, Ontario, that publishes fiction, poetry, and reviews. Temz publishes four issues per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter). They publish work from a diverse range of emerging and established voices. Their goal is to reflect a wide variety of editorial perspectives and publish an eclectic mix of writing.

They’re seeking fiction and creative nonfiction up to 10,000 words. They prefer the strange and the boundary-pushing, but are open to a wide range of styles and voices. Pays $20

They accept submissions of 1–8 poems, depending on their length. Pays $20 per batch of poms.

Accepts reviews, particularly of books from Canadian small presses and of works in translation, but query first.

Quick Brown Fox Quick Brown Fox welcomes your book reviews and your short stories, poems, and essays about reading, writing, favourite books, and libraries. Read a few essays on the blog to get a taste of what other writers have done (see here and scroll down).

Quick Brown Fox also welcomes reviews of any kind and of anything, anywhere or anybody. If you want to review your favourite coffee shops or libraries, babysitters or lovers (no real names please), go for it.
