Stonehouse Publishing is a new Canadian Publishing House, publishing 4–6 titles per year. Their focus is on literary fiction with commercial appeal. They aspire to publish the best in Canadian fiction, but not necessarily Canadiana. They publish both new and established authors but, at this time, only Canadian submissions.

If you have written something creative, appealing and truly original, they would love to hear from you. Specifically, they’re looking for literary fiction and non-formulaic fiction in general. Thrillers, humour, mysteries, historical fiction, and so forth. They would love to read more everyday stories written by and about Canadians from the many diverse backgrounds which make up our country.

Submissions are open between December 1st 2021 and January 31st 2022.

Frontenac House was founded in 1999 with the express purpose of publishing poetry that pushes boundaries and challenges preconceptions. Like everyone else, Frontenac embraces diversity, and has published (and continue to publish) Indigenous writers, Black writers, LGBTQ2S writers, writers of colour, writers with disabilities, cis, and white writers. 

Frontenac is based in Okotoks, just south of Calgary, Alberta, but has published authors from almost every part of Canada. Canadian residency is not required, but they are only able to publish authors who are deemed by the government to be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. {Government grants depend on this.}

Frontenac does not publish chapbooks as part of their regular programme. Manuscripts must be at least 48 pages.

Frontenac will be accepting manuscripts between January 4 and April 30, 2022, for publication in 2023.

Titles will be selected from manuscripts received during thier submission period. Note: You may submit a poetry manuscript outside the submission window if you wish. However, it will be filed and read only when the next reading period opens after May 1. Frontenac does not encourage multiple submissions. Please pick only your best work to send.

Manuscripts are selected by a panel of readers, including the publisher and editors. Manuscripts are read blind, and titles are selected by a majority decision of the panel.

Over the years, Frontenac has – on rare occasion – published art, aviation history, children’s books, anthologies, drama, and other genres. These titles are selected on an individual basis, and Frontenac does not have a formal submission period for them. If you wish Frontenac to consider such a manuscript, please make the genre clear in your email subject line, otherwise it will be filed with manuscripts in the poetry submissions pool.

Bayeux publishes books for both adults and children. In 1994, Bayeux's very first title, “Beside the Ocean of Time” by the Scottish writer George Mackay Brown, was short-listed for the 1994 Booker Prize. Since then, Bayeux has continued to publish eight to ten titles a year and has entered the turbulent world of ePublishing.

Bayeux remains committed to producing books of beauty that build bridges across cultures. As its name was intended to suggest, the artistic nature of its books represents the cornerstone of its publishing program. Our list is deliberately eclectic and contains books that other publishers often shy away from. “We publish these books because they deserve publication and because they deserve to be read.”

Bayeux’s other imprints include GONDOLIER, and ODD LITTLE BOOKS. GONDOLIER highlights subjects related to Management and Social Sciences. ODD LITTLE BOOKS brings together visual artists, dramatists, poets, puppeteers, playwrights, musicians in a charming collection of pocket-sized gems.

Bayeux Arts is interested in finding new authors. Please do not send complete manuscripts, unless requested. Instead, send a synopsis of your work, no longer than 200 words in length.

For Children’s books, please include with the synopsis a sample of no more than 2 illustrations.
