New book: Take Me Back to Cairo by Pamela Paterson and Tarek Hussein

Dear Brian,

It has been almost eight years since we attended your Algonquin Park retreat for the first time, which was the start of many collaborations with you. Thank you for your guidance and continued support. Today we are very excited to share that our novel,  Take Me Back to Cairo, is finally out to the world.

The novel is full of humour, culture clashes, and romance. Publisher’s Weekly finds it “an uplifting cross-cultural turbulent love story…the pathway to happily ever after for Yousef and Janelle is convincingly bumpy. The couple seems to be staring certain disaster in the face, and their respective families, rigid with stereotypical beliefs, aren’t helpful to their cause.”

Terry Fallis, two-time winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, says, "Pamela Paterson and Tarek Hussein have written a rollercoaster of a love story that triumphs over a collision of cultures, family dynamics, an old lover, and new traditions. From Kingston to Cairo and back again, this is a compelling and heartwarming tale by two writers who clearly know the inside story."

Jamal Saeed, author of Yara's Spring and My Road from Damascus, calls it a “precious book about the two mentalities in the diversity frame … this intelligent way of writing is worth reading for its enjoyment and benefit.”

Released September 5, 2023, Take Me Back to Cairo is now available from major retailers including Indigo, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon (here). More information about the book launch on September 27 will be posted here.

Thanks for sharing this special moment with us.
