Steve Kasdin of Curtis Brown literary agency seeks commercial fiction, narrative nonfiction and YA

Curtis Brown is one of the world’s most well established literary agencies. It employs 32 people, with offices in New York and Los Angeles.

Steve Kasdin is the newest member of Curtis Brown agenting team (and hence the agent most in need of new authors). Steve has been in the publishing business for over 20 years. He served as the Marketing Ddirector at St. Martin’s Press, Sholastic and Harcourt, as a literary agent at the Sandra Dijkstra Agency, and as a buyer for Barnes & Noble.

Steve joined Curtis Brown in 2012 as Director of Digital Strategy. He has now also begun taking on clients. He is seeking commercial fiction, narrative nonfiction, and young adult fiction, particularly if it has crossover appeal.

In commercial fiction, he is especially seeking mysteries and thrillers, romantic suspense (with the emphasis on suspense), and historical fiction. In narrative nonfiction, he especially wants biography, history and current affairs. No SciFi or fantasy, memoirs, vampires or writers trying to capitalize on trends.

Say what makes your book unique, include a 1 – 3 page plot synopsis, a brief bio including a history of your publishing history if you have one, and the first 40 – 50 pages of your manuscript as an attachment.
