Writing contests for prose & poetry, lit mag wants strong pieces, and ebook publisher wants your manuscripts

Canadian children’s publisher Annick Press is seeking true stories of bravest moments for a YA non-fiction anthology. The format of the testimonial can be in one of many different mediums (prose, poetry, photography, illustration, etc.). Contact Robbie Patterson at robbiep@annickpress.com for full details.
Deadline: June 30, 2016.

Forage Poetry (UK/US) is looking for intelligent, honest poetry, creative nonfiction, essays, and reviews from poets and writers who focus on the particularities of their encounters with the world. Looks for writing “that is accessible, and that reaches into that space between our heads and our hearts to open a door to something we had almost missed.” Current theme: the Poetry of Tragedy. Off-theme work also welcome.
Deadline: July 20, 2016.

The Profane Nonfiction Prize, judged by author and Brevity editor Dinty W. Moore, is open for entries. No theme. Open to flash fiction, essays, journalism, and narratives “that will spoon out some space in our guts and take up residence there.” Fee: $10 for 2 pieces.
Deadline: August 1, 2016.

Hypertrophic Literary is open to submissions for upcoming issues. Looking for pieces that evoke a physical reaction, make readers feel something: joy, nausea, shock, desperation. Open to submissions of poetry, fiction, excerpts, and nonfiction. Hypertrophic accepts work in all genres and “[doesn’t] care who you are, if you’ve been published before, if it’s your first book or seventy-fourth.”

Independent ebook publisher Moby Books (Canada) is looking for novels, novellas, and short story collections by emerging and established authors. Authors can submit full length manuscripts or partial queries for consideration. Payment and contract based on a print publishing model. Deadline: ongoing.
