If zombies or
Covid-19 take over Canada, then yes, my weekly creative writing courses will continue,
but we may have to temporarily move online. We’re not there yet – and may never
be – but it’s possible the epidemic could become pervasive in the general
population and Public Health could advise against even small gatherings such as
a writing class with just 14 people. Or before that, participants at my courses
might get uneasy and elect to move online.
No problem.
This doesn’t require any great
technology, just a computer (or phone) with Internet access and a microphone –
a camera would be a plus, but it’s not required (though I understand that all
laptops, tablets, and smartphones come with camera installed).
My preference is always
for face-to-face – and that’s how I hope to always run my courses. Otherwise,
how would I ever get out of the house? But new circumstances require new ways
of doing things, and if the situation calls it, we do have a contingency plan.
