The Carolyn Swayze Agency handles literary fiction, juvenile and teen books and a limited list of commercial fiction. No romance, science fiction, poetry, screenplays or children's picture books. The agency considers fantasy for children but not for adults.

Carolyn says: "We are eager to discover lively, thought-provoking narrative non-fiction, especially in the fields of science, nature, history, travel, politics, pop culture and memoir. We handle a few select books on food and parenting."

Email queries to:
Please provide a brief bio.  Include publication credits, writing awards, education and experience relevant to the kind of book project you are working on. Also, include a one-page synopsis of the book and the first ten pages. For non-fiction please include a proposal.

The agency will read queries and proposals which are multiple submissions, but please don’t send a full manuscript that’s under consideration elsewhere and do not query more than one project at a time.

Note: In the spring, Brian Henry will be leading a number of "How to Get Published" workshops: in Gravenhurst on April 17, Moncton, NB, on April 23, in Peterborough on April 24, Kingston on April 25, Uxbridge on May 8, and Hamilton on May 15.
