Many of you came out to hear Cathy Buchanan, author of The Painted Girls and The Day the Falls Stood Still, when I hosted her in September. Now she has some great news to share...
Hello, Brian.
The Painted Girls has
been out in the wide world for almost a year, and I couldn’t be happier with
its reception. It’s a #1 bestseller in
Canada and a New York Time
Bestseller in the US. It's been translated into four
languages, with more to come, and is in development as a television series (see
below). Most recently, I’m thrilled it’s found its way onto a bunch of Best
Books of 2013 lists. Yes, what a year.
The Painted Girls has
been optioned for a television series by the CW Network and CBS Television. And
in stellar news, Dan Jinks (American Beauty, Big Fish, Milk
and Pushing Daisies) has signed on as producer and Tony-nominated
playwright Geoffrey Nauffts (Next Fall) as screenwriter.
Warmest,
Cathy

ReplyDeleteDo you happen to know which languages has The Painted Girls been translated into?
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the novel for a final paper. Hope you can help me, thanks [:
I found The Painted Girls to be a heart-breaking, beautiful story and I walked away feeling like I'd read something that wasn't only interesting, but educational and enriching as well. Buchanan has redeemed herself in my eyes with this subject matter and I'm anxiously awaiting her next project.
