Open Minds
Quarterly
presents its 12th Annual BrainStorm Poetry Contest for mental health consumers.
This international contest is open to any individual who has accessed mental
health services or has been diagnosed with a mental illness (a
“consumer/survivor” or “a person with lived experience of mental illness”).
The
contest, which brings in an average of 500 entries, is a fundraising
event, with proceeds going to Open Minds Quarterly.
The poetry is judged by a panel consumer/survivors or family members on
artistic merit, how well it changes or provokes the reader’s thoughts, and
originality.
The first, second and third place winners win a monetary prize, as
well as publication in Open Minds Quarterly.
The poems that merit honourable mention are also published in OMQ.
The
entry fee is $10 for up to three poems. Full rules and entry form here.
