If
you’ve had a story (or a book!) published, if you’ve won
or placed in a writing contest, if you’ve gotten yourself an agent, or if you
have any other news, send me an email so I can share your success. And be sure
to let know if you're looking for a writers' group or beta readers; a notice in
Quick Brown Fox, will help you find them.

Dear Brian,
Thank you for hosting another great
workshop! I took another of your workshops in the spring, Writing
for Children, with Liz Kemp from Orca Books as the guest speaker. Since then, I
have secured a publishing deal with Orca for a bedtime board book. I
feel that is thanks to you and your fabulous workshops!!
With Gratitude,
Evangelene Alaraj
P.S. The launch date is April
11, 2023
Note: The next Writing for Children and for Young
Adults workshop will be in February. Details will be announced as soon as I
confirm my guest speaker. These workshop do tend to fill up quickly. If you
want a space, send me an email, and I’ll hold a spot for you and send the
details as soon as they’re confirmed. You can see details of the last Kid Lit
workshop here.
Hi, Brian.
Hope all
is well with you. I wanted to let you know that I submitted my “Sleep No More”
personal essay to The Globe and they are going to publish it!
It's
been a goal of mine for many years to have an essay published there, so this is
a big milestone for me. I wanted to thank you so much for all your help and
support and for encouraging me to submit it.
I don't
know when it will be published but I will keep you posted!
Wishing
you and your family happy holidays and a safe and happy New Year.
All the
best,
Vanessa Green

Hi, Brian.
Wishing you the very best of the
holiday season, despite all the various restrictions on all of us.
This piece, “Christmas Eves” was
published online today – a very special date as it is my daughter’s birthday,
and the tenth anniversary of my sister’s death, both of which are outlined in
the piece. I workshopped this piece in one of your courses, and as
always, the feedback was invaluable.
All the very best to you and yours
for 2022.
Cheers,
Alyson Soko

At this point, all Winter courses
are full. I’ll start posting Spring courses soon. Keep on eye on the Evolving
Schedule here.
Hi, Brian.
Do you remember my essay, “Winter
Rose,” about my daughter’s birth? I workshopped it with you in one of our
online sessions. Back then, it was about my twin passions of writing and
mothering. It went through a few more iterations and then this fall, it won second
place in the 2021 Doula Foundation’s Birth Writing Contest.
