Hi, Brian.
Remember back in 2016 when I sent you my manuscript
for a full edit? Remember you told me the story started on page 120? Remember
how angry I was? No, of course you wouldn't remember how angry I was because I
never told you. I just wrapped elastic bands around the hard copy (complete
with all your notes) and kicked it under my desk. Didn’t that show you how mad
I was?
Six months later I pulled the manuscript out and
took off the elastics. I read through your suggestions in one sitting.
Darn it. You were right. I was wrong.
You didn’t hate my characters. You didn’t hate the
story.
You got my voice, and all your
suggestions made the novel stronger and opened up opportunities for it to take
off in new directions. The rewrite was so exciting.
Calm down. Don’t get all lightheaded. I didn’t accept every edit … only most of
them.
Thank you, for your part in getting my YA novel, Summer of Lies, to this stage – published by BWL Publishing. Release date February 1/2021. Available at Amazon (here) or from various sources here.
