“My Sea” by Lubna Shaban

My Sea
Listen here, my child
Look at me
Grasp my gaze
You see, I’ve got you
No person or thing can hurt you
I am as wide as anything may be
As loving as the whole world combined
I am as cold and refreshing as your soul needs
Don’t cry!
What now?
Are those people scaring you?
Forget about them and stay with me
You can rest your head and throw away your fears
Wipe your little feet on my sandy welcome mat
Enter my sanctuary as clean, as fearless, and as open as you can be
I am your father and your mother
All life begins with me
Enter and be liberated
