Markham’s First Open Mic Night, Thurs, March 24

Markham author Elizabeth Tyrrell will read from her debut novel. The Strangling Angel is the story of a young girl’s harrowing journey across a famine-ravaged Ireland, after witnessing her mother’s brutal murder at the hands of her father.

Following, the mic is open to the audience, so come up and share your own story or poem. Sign up between 6:45 and 7:00 to reserve your spot in the lineup. (18 years and older, please.)

Musical guest Matt Panetta, a talented songwriter and guitarist, will perform his original music. The winners of the 2011 MAC Poetry Contest will read their winning entries.

Refreshments available for purchase. Cubbii Market is pleased to offer a selection of hot and cold beverages plus delicious snacks.
